TTG MonoSlideshow Gallery

Current version 1.34

If it’s options you want, you’ll get them in spades with TTG MonoSlideshow Gallery, a template that integrates Monokai’s MonoSlideshow into the Adobe Lightroom‘s Web module. Every aspect of every element in the gallery is completely configurable to the user’s preferences. In fact, TTG MonoSlideshow Gallery is only a part of the iceberg; those willing to spend some time with the MonoSlideshow manual and to get their hands a little dirty with XML will find a wealth of additional options that go beyond the scope of Lightroom – things like sound-effects, custom fonts and watermarks, and more.

But there’s a catch. TTG MonoSlideshow Gallery is free, but MonoSlideshow is not. MonoSlideshow must be purchased from www.monoslideshow.com for $19.95 in order to use the Web module plugin.

MonoSlideshow Configurable Online Demo

*Demo 2 involves some manual coding combining galleries.

Installation

In order to use TTG MonoSlideshow gallery, users are required to purchase MonoSlideshow from www.monoslideshow.com for $19.95 USD.

Once purchased, copy the monoslideshow.swf into the TTGMonoSlideshowGallery folder. Overwrite the existing swf file, which is a fake. You may now continue installation according to the Installation instructions.

Achtung!!

There are several things to be aware of when using TTG MonoSlideshow Gallery. Please read this section thoroughly.

The MSSwrapper File

MonoSlideshow requires that its width and height dimensions be passed to it from the index.html file. Lightroom loads the monoslideshow.swf file directly, and does not load the index.html at all. This presents a problem. To wit, MonoSlideshow, as previewed from within the Lightroom Web module, cannot retrieve its width and height dimensions, and therefore assumes width and height dimensions of zero, meaning that it doesn’t show up at all in the preview window.

In order to remedy this problem, TTG MonoSlideshow Gallery loads a separate SWF file, which loads the monoslideshow.swf file into itself whilst passing it width and height dimensions. This allows the MonoSlideshow gallery to be previewed from within the Web module.

From version 1.3, it is no longer necessary to choose or edit the MSSwrapper.swf file. The Lightroom preview now honors and displays the Stage dimensions and background color, making the gallery much easier to configure than ever before. A great deal of thanks to to Joe Capra for his excellent work on the MSSwrapper file.

Finally, the MSSwrapper file is only used to preview the gallery within the LR Web module. Once a gallery is exported, the wrapper file may be safely deleted from the exported gallery.

Using a Mark File

If you intend to use a mark file in your slideshow, you should add the mark to the gallery archive in order to prevent MonoSlideshow from freaking out when it can’t find the file. To do that, copy the file into the gallery archive. Then, open the gallery.xml file, and add a filePath entry for your mark file.

Read the Manual

The purchased MonoSlideshow gallery archive includes a PDF users manual. This manual details the full range of options available in MonoSlideshow, many of which are not supported by the TTG MonoSlideshow Gallery template (because they are irrelevant to Lightroom’s functions). Options such as sound effects, flash watermarks, custom fonts and more must be added manually to the XML file.

Configurable Online Demo

A configurable online demo of MonoSlideshow gallery is available at the MonoSlideshow website. Users can configure the gallery and view their customizations on the Internet. The resulting XML file can then be downloaded. Optionally, users can copy and paste the settings from the downloaded XML file into the Lightroom generated XML file.

Push Buttons!

More than a simple slideshow, with the right configuration MonoSlideshow can also but used to present a thumbnail gallery. Don’t be afraid to experiment!

Changelog

v1.34 (2008-01-24)

Added support for attributes albumWidth, albumHeight and setting of thumbnail for an album.

v1.33 (2007-12-18)

Increased length of input field for the mark file; mark file is empty by default, because the tentacles were causing widespread panic and confusion.

v1.32 (2007-12-17)

Added options for setting a Mark file. Supports SWF and JPG; tentacles.swf is included in the gallery archive and may be used freely. If you plan on using the same mark file always, probably a good idea to copy the file into the gallery archive; then open the gallery.xml file and add a line for it; finally, create a preset in the LR Web module that enables your mark.

Added the new “Zissou” preset, derived from a poster for Wes Anderson’s brilliant film The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.

v1.31 (2007-12-12)

Some code tweaks.

Packaged the gallery with four custom User Template presets, demonstrating various configuration possibilities.

v1.3 (2007-12-12)

Stage dimensions and background color are now honored and displayed in the Lightroom preview, making the gallery much easier to configure visually. Many thanks to Joe Capra, from www.LightroomGalleries.com, for his excellent work in making this possible.

v1.2 (2007-10-17)

Now supports linking images. By default, write URLs into the Copyright IPTC field. You can select a different field as source or disable the link from the Image Settings pane in the Web module.

v1.1 (2007-10-03)

Added support for additional attributes, including startWith, randomizeAlbums, thumbnailWidth, thumbnailHeight and more.

Added thumbnail image resizing.

Reorganized some items in the control panes.

Changed several default values to allow for a more optimized workflow from go.

v1.0 (2007-08-08)

Initial release.

Another smash hit Matthew! I bought the slideshow from the link and your implementation in Lightroom is a dream. I need to play around with the custom fonts in the XML file like you mentioned and see what else I can play with. Thanks for sharing your talent with the world!

Very good stuff, indeed! I also bought Monoslideshow and started experimenting. Keep up the great work!

Thanks, guys!

This is an awesome template!!! One question – the standard MonoSlideShow package has the ability to add background music, is there any way to incorporate this functionality into the template, or any of the other Flash-based templates for that matter? Thanks, and keep up the good work! :)

10 August 07 / link / feed

Steve,

Because the Lightroom application has nothing to do with music management, I chose to omit these features from the template. In accordance with that decision, and in the interest of preventing the template from becoming overwhelming with options, I am not likely to include these features in a future release.

Instead, I’ve tried to include those features most related to what Lightroom does. To wit, I’ve focused on the photos, gallery options and general appearance of the slideshow.

While I do have a few things in mind for a future release, other aspects, including sounds, SWF watermarking, custom fonts, etc. will likely remain manual additions.

While on the subject of future updates, I should mention that other projects now require my attention. I probably won’t be working on anything Lightroom-related until September.

Cheers,
Matt

This an awesome template. Thanks for your hard work on this, but I will however add another vote to reference a music file.

I the mean time if somebody can post the step by step to add the music that would be great.

Thanks,

Hey Matt, Great work with the monoslideshow, love the ken burns panning and zooming (I set to random), just one quick question, the majority of my shots are landscapes but the odd portrait usually ends up cutting off the top and bottom, is there anyway to stop this?

Pete

15 August 07 / link / feed

Pete,

Under Output Settings, try changing the Scale Mode. If you Downscale to Fit, it should squeeze the entire image in there.

16 August 07 / link / feed

Cool template, how difficult is it be to add the identity plate to the template?

16 August 07 / link / feed

Paul,

A multi-part answer for you.

1. The ID plate could be hard coded into the index.html file, but would not be switchable on/off. This is because TTG MonoSlideshow Gallery is a Flash-based template, and the index.html is therefore not dynamically generated by LR through a transformer.xml file.

2. It would be possible to add ID plate support to SWF file, but Monokai, the author of the MonoSlideshow template, would have to do it. I don’t work in Flash, and, even if I did, I don’t have the FLA file for the slideshow.

3. You might be able to incorporate your ID plate into the slideshow manually using MonoSlideshow’s Mark functions. It might be necessary to convert the image file into an SWF first, but I’m not sure about that. See the PDF manual that comes along with MonoSlideshow for more information on Mark options.

17 August 07 / link / feed

Hi Matthew,

your is a very great job. I have an answer for you:
how can I load a custom xml file? What is the parameter, may be “datafile” as specified in the monoslideshow manual.

thanx

Saso

17 August 07 / link / feed

Saso,

Just copy the XML file into the exported gallery folder. Overwrite the existing XML file.

I’m not sure about your “datafile” query, but maybe that’s where you can specify a different XML file in the index.html. Just open the index.html file, find the Javascript that embeds the monoslideshow.swf file, and change the XML file it uses.

15 September 07 / link / feed

Dude, love it! purchased the monoslideshow, very cool nicely executed…
A couple questions: it seems that adding the ken burns effect results in a very very long upload have you seen this, 15min for 6 photos? also how does one create additional albums? can this be done in lightroom?
many thinks LOVE the site, keep up the good work
Les

15 September 07 / link / feed

Les,

Glad you like it.

Not sure about the uploading issue. Are you using Lightroom to upload, or are you exporting to your desktop first? I have found that Lightroom exports and performs functions very slowly if the gallery is running in the preview. If that’s the cause of the problem, make sure to press the Stop button on the slideshow before performing any actions. This should restore behavior to normal.

You can create multiple galleries in a single slideshow, but not from within Lightroom. To do it, export multiple galleries to your desktop. You’ll then need to do some manual editing. I should probably go ahead an write a tutorial on this. I’ll try to find some time this weekend to do so.

17 September 07 / link / feed

Thanks, working great. I am going to be using TTG Select for all my media events I shoot… this is a great value to my workflow and I am asking everyone out there:

“please donate to this if you use it, TTG is one of the few people/businesses spending effort for the right reasons… to help people especially people in the arts to improve their bottom-line. You have certainly effected my bottom line in a positive way and for that I owe you many thanks”

Thanks again keep in touch, I will forward my sites for your galleries soon…
Les

17 September 07 / link / feed

just to clarify, I am building a new Monoslideshow with TTG monoslideshow website. I am also deploying TTG select for our event shoots…
thanks again

17 September 07 / link / feed

Wow, Les. Thanks for the fervent endorsement! :)

22 September 07 / link / feed

Hi Matthew,
I like your template very much and it seems to be perfect for my new design, but there are a few parameters I could not set. I discussed with monokai about an alternative solution, but currently there is none.
Where do you find the RAW-templates which you modify?
Which of them would be so flexible like monoslideshow?
I will have a look for an image of my new design to post it in here.

Greets
Christoph

22 September 07 / link / feed

Hi Christoph,

I’m not sure what you mean by “RAW-templates”. Could you explain?

What sorts of parameters are you looking for?

22 September 07 / link / feed

Hi Matthew,

I looked for the URLs to explain it better.

Here is a scatch of my new design:
http://c.kreyenberg.net/layout1.2.jpg

And this is the Thread at monoslideshow.com:
http://www.monoslideshow.com/vanilla/discussion/802/design-possible/

Raw-Template should mean the galleries which you integrate in lightroom. E.g. monoslideshow.com or the galleries from airtight-interactive.

23 September 07 / link / feed

Thanks for sharing the MonoSlideshow thread; very informative.

As for where I find the galleries I choose to work on, I already knew about Airtight Interactive. The others I found by Googling for Flash-based web galleries. A few others, LR users have requested.

I’ve got a few more sitting in my to-do bin at the moment.

23 September 07 / link / feed

Would there be one which could be used for my design? Perhaps you could tell me a name or url.

Thanks!

23 September 07 / link / feed

The nearest I’ve seen to your layout is this one. I’m not sure how customizable it is yet, though. I haven’t played with it much.

23 September 07 / link / feed

You might also try looking into javascript galleries. With some layout changes, you might be able to use this or this.

Paul
17 October 07 / link / feed

Is there a way to populate the link property of the img tag automatically from lightroom metadata?

Cheers

17 October 07 / link / feed

That seems a reasonable request.

Paul, I've updated the gallery with the functionality you've requested.
Paul
18 October 07 / link / feed

Wow – thanks Matthew – I’ll download and try the new version right away!

BTW, love the product and appreciate all your effort and responsiveness.

If you don’t mind, I’ve come across a couple of quirks I’m hoping you might be able to shed light upon.

1) I have made a few templates to persist your gallery settings, but noticed that a few properties don’t seem to persist (in a seemingly unpredictable manner – namely the stage and viewport dimensions as the display and transition time fields. This may be a lightroom issue – hard to tell.

2) Don’t know if this is related, but have a strange issue once my slideshow is published. On first page load, all is well, but if refresh the page or go to another page, the stage size is larger than I specified (not sure exactly what it is, but my slideshow is cropped because my flash object viewport is set to 500×500). My stage is 500×500 and the scale properties are turned off (of course my images are already sized to 500×500). I don’t know if the xml is not being loaded properly by monoslideshow or if something else is going on.

—Paul

18 October 07 / link / feed

Paul,

I’m not sure on either issue. Can you provide me a URL so I can check out the gallery, or can you email me a zip archive of your gallery (mjcampagna [at] gmail [dot] com).

31 October 07 / link / feed

Hi, I want to re-do my website and think this is the gallery I want to use. I even purchased the mono slideshow gallery. Only problem is the link to the TTGmonoslideshow zip file gives me a corrupted file that I can’t unzip. If you could check it out or e-mail me a new link or file I’d appreciate it, thanks—Harry

Hi Harry,

I’ve replaced the zip file with a fresh copy. Try the download again.

2 November 07 / link / feed

Hi,

I had a question about small drop down arrows to the right of the text boxes. It seems to record all of the values that have ever been entered into the box. Where is this information stored and how can it be reset?

Thanks.

2 November 07 / link / feed

That’s a good question, and I’m afraid I don’t have a good answer. The most direct way would be to remove Lightroom and all associated files from the computer and reinstall, but then you lose everything else too. Less than ideal.

Have you tried asking in the Adobe forums, or at www.LightroomForums.net?

4 November 07 / link / feed

thanks for updating the file. I got it working, but now it won’t export from lightroom. It was doing some funky things before, like not showing the progress bar while exporting, but now it doesn’t do anything. It builds and previews the galleries nicely but no export. I deledted the files and re-downloaded everything and set it up in my web-galleries folder and am still getting the same problems. Am I doing something wrong or need to change something in the files? Thanks —Harry

4 November 07 / link / feed

No changes should be necessary. Are you using the latest version of Lightroom? What operating system are you using? Are you experiencing problems with any other gallery?

Hasan
5 November 07 / link / feed

I was just wondering if you could explain how you got the results you did on your photo blog. I have been trying to figure out how to use monoslideshow to create a gallery and so far have been unsuccessful.

5 November 07 / link / feed

Basically, you need to set the thumbnail window to always show and then reposition them using a combination of alignment and margins/padding. All of these options are in the Web module. I’ll email you my photoblog gallery preferences for reference.

Drew
8 November 07 / link / feed

Question: Shouldn’t the gallery be producing its own .xml file? I continue to get errors with both preview and export. When I check the folder(s) there is no .xml file present.

8 November 07 / link / feed

What version of Lightroom and what operating system are you using? The gallery will produce its own XML file, but only if you’re using an up-to-date copy of Lightroom. Conflicting, there are known issues with the Web module on Mac OS X Leopard, fixes for which will appear in the next version of Lightroom, sometime in mid-November.

The plugin was designed to work with MonoSlideshow 1.32. I can’t guarantee compatibility with any other version. You might try contacting Monokai about an upgrade.

14 December 07 / link / feed

I love this implementation and have made a donation. I have a couple of comments: If you select “autoplay” and then click “export”; it stalls because it can’t get access to the files. I have to press “pause” on MSS to allow LR the ability to work.

Also… could you add the markFile=”“ attribute to the album?

And, during “export” can you get the FTP Subfolder to prefix imagePath=”“ and thumbnailPath=”“. This would be great when storing on a local website. At the moment I have to manually edit the XML on every export to include the correct path.

14 December 07 / link / feed

Gordon,
Thank you for the donation.

Mark options are something I’m considering for the next release. I’m not sure how exactly I’ll choose to implement them, but it’s on my mind.

I’m not sure what you mean about getting the FTP Subfolder to prefix imagePath, etc. Can you explain exactly what it is you’d like the gallery to do? Presently, the gallery uses relative paths to the images and thumbnails, and I can’t imagine any instance where that wouldn’t be functional behavior.

15 December 07 / link / feed

MarkOptions needs a text input field and the user to add the data file to the TTG folder so that you can assemble the assets on export/preview/publish.

As for relative paths for imagePath etc. I place my slideshow in a subdirectory so all the assets are nicely bundled. BUT I display the slideshow from my content management system. I don’t use iFrames because some firewall software clobbers them. So I’m left with my CMS /index.php including the XML and JS files from /slideshow/show2/*. Thus I have to manually add the fully qualified paths to imagePath etc. I was thinking that a radio with “absolute path XXXX” and “relative path” could be added which would give the use the option. Your browser and LR preview would be relative with Export honoring the relative/absolute configuration.

BTW. Checkout my homepage to see how your component works with my website & cms.

15 December 07 / link / feed

Gordon,

I have two ideas for mark options. One, what you suggest, is to provide a text input field. The other idea is to bundle a few different marks into the gallery and provide a drop list allowing users to choose one of them. Users with their own, could then choose to edit the gallery to include their own marks in the list, or edit the gallery themselves post-export. Do you reckon the text input field would be more widely desirable?

As for your paths, I think there’s a better way. Pack your files into a subdirectory. From the main page, tell the gallery to find the monoslideshow.swf file at the appropriate location. Then add this to the Javascript:

so.addParam(“base”, “/monoslideshow/”);

Set the path to the sub-folder containing your files; above, the path is set to the folder ‘monoslideshow’. This tells MonoSlideshow to use that directory as the base for its resources. An example of this implementation can be found here, a client site I’m in the midst of assembling.

You’ve got a nice looking website, by the way. Good wedding shots, too.

15 December 07 / link / feed

Cool, thanks! I check the MSS docs for just such a “base” parameter and didn’t find it. Thanks again!

As for markOptions, I use the following in my file and would need the option to easily keep it in a “User Template”:

<album markFile=‘round772×480.swf’ markAlign=‘center’ …>

So a simple text entry would work for me, i.e. no editing of config files. And it would be my responsibility to put the swf (et.al) into the TTG directory. Your code would bundle the asset and attributes together on an export to save me doing it via a perl script every time as a “fixup” script.

Also, did you identify a way around the “autoplay stopping LR from exporting?”.

Thanks for your compliments on my website, I work hard for my brides and even harder marketing to them! :-)

JESUS PADILLA
16 December 07 / link / feed

HI Matthew i just want to thank all your efforts, now i am able to create beautiful web galleries without effort…keep up the good work !!!!

AND I THANK YOU A LOT!!!

16 December 07 / link / feed

Gordon,
There is no way around the AutoPlay issue. You simply have to make sure the slideshow is paused before you export.

16 December 07 / link / feed

That’s a shame… as with some slideshows I remove the control interface, meaning I can’t pause. My current solution is that fix up script – or – switch to library and wait a while until the export triggers automatically.

Thanks for looking into it!

PS. I’ll make another donation once the markfile stuff is release ;-)

17 December 07 / link / feed

I’ll have to get on that mark stuff, then. ;)

As for the AutoPlay, it’s an extra step, but a simple one. If you’ve disabled the controls, just turn AutoPlay off, then enable it again by editing the XML file post-export. The AutoPlay is boolean, so just set it to true.

The other thing would be to keep just the play/pause button and set it to AutoHide. MonoSlideshow lets you enable/disable buttons individually. The toggles for each button are at the top of the Controls options in LR.

17 December 07 / link / feed

Yeah, already have a fix up script, I’m just trying to eliminate as much as possible with the hope to helps everyone. :)

17 December 07 / link / feed

Okay, Gordon. Your mark files are supported now. Cheers!

17 December 07 / link / feed

Hi Matthew,
can you please explain what the “spider” I can see on my photo in Lightroom preview ? Seems like it flash cartoon ! Right up and it’s moving, I can attach screen shot if you tell me how? I am not joking

18 December 07 / link / feed

Sergey,
Just blank out the Mark File field. It will go away.

18 December 07 / link / feed

Matthew,

is it Christmas joke ? Why is this guy swimming on my photo? Can’t find any water :))

18 December 07 / link / feed

Close but no banana…. the field length is truncated I can’t use: round600×400.swf !!!!!

18 December 07 / link / feed

Also, it doesn’t seem to copy my SWF to the temp directory or export directory, creating a “Cannot Load Mark File Error”.

18 December 07 / link / feed

Ahh, found it, I need to edit gallery.xml to include my stock mark files. Thanks for your work on this, another donation on the way as promised!

Also, I fixed the field length issue, I jacked it up to 32 chars :-)

18 December 07 / link / feed

Well, Gordon, I can’t have you outdoing me, so I’ve gone and upped the field length to 64 characters! Take that, you!! And sorry for the oversight in 1.32.

Also, due to the apparent widespread panic and confusion regarding multi-armed creatures suddenly appearing in slideshows, I’ve rendered the mark file empty by default.

18 December 07 / link / feed

ROFL – Sure, I noticed the panic set in. Markfile is quite a specialized feature but one that’s necessary to provide rounded corners to my presentations.

Thank you for your responsiveness and donation of this code to the community.

Have a great Christmas Holiday Season,

G.

I refreshed the file. Try it again.

bought the monoslideshow and downloaded your template for lightroom and moved the swf file, am I missing something, ttgmonoslideshow shows up in lightroom but only see green page how do I get passed this what did i forget probably stupid question but please help, thanks

21 January 08 / link / feed

If you’re still seeing the green screen, then you didn’t overwrite the dummy monoslideshow.swf file with the purchased monoslideshow.swf. Copy the purchased SWF into the gallery folder, overwriting the existing dummy file, and it should work fine.

5 February 08 / link / feed

Hi Matthew, after a long hésitation beetwin Monoslideshow and sideshowPro, I chose MonoslideShow and i don’t regret it.
but i think there is one importante thing missing in TTg MonoslideShow is the fullscreen mode. I tryed to do it by myself but i don’t know where to put the code i founded

(samuel from france)

http://flashpanoramas.com/player/test/fullscreen.as

5 February 08 / link / feed

Hi Samuel,

MonoSlideshow currently does not support a fullscreen mode.

The code you found relates to a separate product and I don’t think it will work for MonoSlideshow.

The fullscreen mode is one advantage that SlideShowPro has over MonoSlideshow, but I still far prefer MonoSlideshow for it’s many customization options.

10 February 08 / link / feed

Thanks for the recommendation on this one. I switched out the first gallery on our site today … over the weekend, I will switch some of the others out. Monoslideshow is super-easy to use. I had downloaded a trial of SlideShowPro, but in all honesty … I think this is easier to operate, offers more features, and looks nicer in the end. Thanks for all of your hard work in getting it set for Lightroom.

Hi Matthew,

Thank you for the great Lightroom-monoslideshow plugin! It’s really nice to tweek around with this tool. BUT- when I try to export my gallery, nothing happens! Well, the program asks for a place to put the file, but that’s all. I see no signs that Lightroom is actually doing something with the input. Any ideas what the problem might be?

I have reinstalled the Monoslideshow Gallery and have tried exporting to a number of locations but no jot!

Any ideas?

1. Make sure you’re running Lightroom 1.1 or higher.

2. Copy only the purchased monoslideshow.swf file into the gallery folder. Do not copy any other files or you may overwrite something the gallery requires to operate.

8 April 08 / link / feed

Love what you have here but having a minor issue.

When I click on “Prepare home for monoslideshow” I get a javascript error. I have javascript and flash installed so it doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. I purchased the slide show and installed it without issue.

The error is:
Object expected
agwpg://localhost:1041/index.html

8 April 08 / link / feed

You’re getting the error in the Web module, not in the browser, right?

If so, ignore it. IE throws up a lot of false warnings. Export the galleries and the result should work as it’s supposed to.

David
20 April 08 / link / feed

The Monosite folder is in Web galleries folder when I check in Windows Explorer but its not appeared in the Lightroom galleries section. What have I done wrong?

21 April 08 / link / feed

You just need to copy the TTGMonoSlideshowGallery folder into the LR Web Galleries folder specified in the installation instructions. Make sure your zip extraction application didn’t nest the files in additional sub-folders, and check your installation path.

Don’t understand where the monoslideshow folder should be placed. What do you mean by pages? There’s nothing called ‘pages’ on my screen. Should it be placed in the index.html? I’m confused.

David,
Whatever operating system you’re using, the file path for your purchased monoslideshow.swf file should be:

…/Lightroom/Web Galleries/TTGMonoSlideshowGallery/monoslideshow.swf

When you copy the purchased SWF to that location, you should overwrite the existing dummy file (which is the green screen). If you are still seeing the green screen, then you did not copy the file to the correct location.

Thanks for your help. I now have Monoslide Gallery installed in Lightroom with a white background space.I’ve ticked the boxes in TTGLR Pages and got the stage sizes right. When I do a preview nothing happens———-I don’t get the gallery appearing as it does with the normal Lightroom sites. Could you write out the path on how the files should be brought together.

thanks,

David.

MonoSlideshow and the TTG LR Pages output need to be merged merged outside of LR, after export. There’s no way to preview them together within the Web module. Is that the matching answer to the question I think you were asking? :)

Hi there.
Just tried to download the TGmonogallery but it appears the zip file is damaged. The zip file comes up with an error message saying “no files to extract”.

Could it have become corrupted?

Best wishes,

Chris Birchall.

Chris,

Extracts fine for me. You might try an alternate extraction utility. I like to keep two on hand, as I find one will sometimes fail to open an archive, and the other will do so just fine. Give AlZip a try and let me know if the problem persists.

Cheers,
Matt

Hi,
I’m playing around with the monoslideshow, but I’m having trouble fitting the entire rectangle of an image into a square monoslideshow with ken burns effects on. It works fine with Ken burns mode set to none, but with any other mode, it scales the shortest edge to fit the square and the extremes of the longer sides are cut off…
Are there any other settings to play with?
thanks a bunch,
Bert

Unfortunately, the Ken Burns effects override your image scaling settings. They always scale the image to fill the viewport, and there is no way to disable this. The best work-around I’ve come up with is to crop your images to the dimensions of the viewport, and then export them slightly larger so that they have a bit extra to move around. So, if your gallery is a 500 pixel square, I’d probably crop the images to square shape and then export them at 550 or 600 pixels.

You need to purchase MonoSlideshow and supply the purchased monoslideshow.swf file to the gallery template. Have you done this?

Hi,
I feel like an idiot, but I’m having trouble installing TTGmonoslideshow into lightroom. I’ve followed the instructions, but I don’t see it in the web gallery section of lightroom. (I’ve successfully installed your other awesome galleries). Now, TTGmonoslideshow is a folder, not a file that ends with .lrwebengine, and I wonder if that has anything to do with my problem. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Oh, one more thing, to where should I place the “presets” folder?

24 July 08 / link / feed

Christiena,

Double-check whether your archival software is creating an extra folder when it unzips the package. The path to the gallery resources should look like this:

…/Web Galleries/TTGMonoSlideshow/

If there’s an extra folder, …/Web Galleries/TTGMonoSlideshow/TTGMonoSlideshow/ for example, then the gallery likely will not show up in the list.

The presets should be copied into the Web Templates folder, which resides alongside the Web Galleries folder.

Please let me know whether that solves your problem.

Thank you for such a quick reply!
Unfortunately, I’ve set it up as it should be. I wish i could send you a printscreen shot of my folders. I have lightroom 1.4, and I’ve just downloaded monoslideshow, and ttgmonoslideshow.
any thoughts?

Sending a screenshot of your folders is a great idea. matthew [at] theturninggate [dot] net.

Matthew,
I’ve got it all figured out. I was supposed to go to “Users” first!
It’s so sad that you’re leaving Korea, but at the same time, you are pursuing your dreams, and for that I congratulate you. Best of luck to you!

Hey there,

This looks cool and I love MSS. Anychance of you guys adopting this to Apple Aperture? Or maybe you know of a MSS export plugin already out there? I cannot find one. I just need it to export thumbs and images with the correct MSS syntax. I know that the Flash Album plugin is already doing that, but it doesn’t have MSS as an option and Simpleviewers syntax is different!

Can you offer any help or guidance?!

I’ve never used Aperture, and have no plans to port templates over to it. Sorry.

Any chance of an update to support Output sharpening in LR2?

5 August 08 / link / feed

No. Reason being that Output Sharpening is a feature that can only be coded into the new Lua-based galleries, while Flash galleries (including MonoSlideshow, the Airtight galleries, and others) are, by necessity, still written in XSLT. As things currently stand, it’s just not possible to include the feature in these galleries.
