Since April 2007, with the release of the first TTG web gallery template for Lightroom, The Turning Gate has become a frequent destination for Lightroom users. That's awesome! Unfortunately, it's also time-consuming and increasingly expensive.
My hosting company, SiteGround.com, recently noticed my site consistently exceeding its allotted resources, typically using from two to five times its allowance. With very little notice and even less tact, they attempted to extort enormous fees from me for continued service and shut down my website when I tried to discuss the matter with them. Naturally, I then told them what they could do with their services and sought out a new host.
The Turning Gate has now been relocated to MediaTemple.com, where CPU overages should be a thing of the past, and at a much more reasonable cost than what SiteGround was demanding. It's still expensive, though.
Being a full-time student, I cannot afford to pay this increased cost of hosting on my own. My choices, however, are few: I can pay the fees, or close the site. I've thus decided to change the way the TTG web gallery templates are to be distributed.
I've signed up with E-Junkie.com to manage file distribution and payments, and I'm asking a $2.50 donation per download. This gets you a download URL with five uses, allowing gallery upgrades for what I feel is a reasonable time and helps to defray the cost of hosting this website.
Of course, I will continue to accept additional donations as well. Those willing to offer additional support can either increase the amount of payment at the time of purchase, or make an additional donation using the PayPal buttons on my gallery information pages, like this one:
Though I would very much like to continue distributing my galleries for free, I hope my users will understand the necessity for this change and continue to support my work on Lightroom web templates.
Thank you.
